How to improve the results of laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is becoming one of the most commonly used methods to eliminate hair growth for an extended period of time. The process has been thoroughly tested and is clinically proven to remove or reduce hair quickly, without affecting the surrounding skin. As a result, you can get the results you want with minimal or no downtime. At most, your skin may be a little red for a day or two. Some people describe it as having a mild sunburn for the first several hours.

If you want to improve your laser hair removal results, there are a number of things you can do. We’ve got the best expert tips to ensure you get the most out of your laser hair removal sessions:

  1. Start With A Consultation

All treatment plans at SkinSpirit start with a complimentary consultation. During the consultation, clients will meet with a medical practitioner to review their medical history, discuss treatment goals, explain how the treatment works, talk about what type of results the client can expect, and determine if the client will be an appropriate candidate for treatment. Consultations are quick, lasting anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Understand You Will Need Multiple Laser Hair Removal Sessions

One of the most common mistakes people make is going into their first session and thinking everything will be taken care of at once.  Laser hair removal technology only has the ability to affect hair in the early growth phase.  On every part of your body, your hair follicles are constantly cycling between the growth phase and a dormant phase.  As a result, every area will require multiple sessions, regardless of how large or small it is.  This is the only way to get the ideal results you desire.  By understanding this from the very beginning, you will be significantly more satisfied with your results after each session.

3. After the first week following your laser hair removal session, you’ll want to gently exfoliate the treated area.

Why? Because you’ll most likely start to notice hair growing back on the treated area. This is totally normal, and it’s just the hair shedding. Use a washcloth or an exfoliating shower gel to help the process along, but don’t use anything too rough.

4. Avoid Caffeine for 24 Hours Before Your Treatment

While it is not necessary, you may want to avoid caffeine for 24 hours prior to your session.  Some people have reported this can reduce the level of pain experienced as well as help you relax.

5. Shave the Day of Your Laser Hair Treatment

It is extremely helpful if you shave the day of or the day before, your laser hair removal session.  By shaving the excess hair, it will be easier for your technician to find and target your hair follicles.  This makes the treatment more effective and also can shorten your session time.

You should avoid removing hair by the roots for six weeks prior to your first laser hair removal treatment**.**

This means no tweezing or waxing. Why? By not removing your hair from the roots, will ensure that the laser hair removal sessions target all of the follicles in the growth phase.

6. Timing Is Everything

The ideal time of year to receive laser hair removal will be when the skin is least exposed to the sun. This tends to be in the fall for most clients, either two to four weeks after the skin has received any sort of sun exposure.

The ideal time of year for treatment will depend on many factors. First off, the client’s lifestyle – does the client spend a lot of time outdoors with their skin exposed? Secondly, it will depend on how tanned a client’s skin is. The darker the skin is, the less energy the laser will be able to use for a safe and effective treatment. With the reduction of energy of the laser, more sessions will be required in order to obtain a client’s desired results.
